FinancialControl

Terms of Service

Last updated 3 September 2026

These terms cover your use of FinancialControl at cannontd.com. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not create an account.

Who runs this service

FinancialControl is built and operated by one person. It is not a bank, not a lender, not a credit bureau, not a money transmitter, and not a registered financial adviser.

What the service is

FinancialControl is a tracker and a calculator. You give it your cards and accounts, by hand, by CSV file, or by connecting a bank through Plaid. It works out your credit utilization, shows what your statements report as opposed to what you owe today, and suggests an order and an amount to pay with the money you say you have.

What the service is not

  • It does not move money. It cannot make a payment, transfer funds, or change anything at your bank. Every connection it makes to a bank is read only.
  • It does not give financial, legal, tax, or credit advice. Its output is information and arithmetic, not a recommendation from a professional.
  • It is not a credit repair service and does not promise any change to your credit score. Nobody can promise that.
  • It does not pay your bills for you and does not remind your bank of anything.

The numbers can be wrong or out of date

This matters more than anything else on this page, so it is stated plainly.

  • Figures that come from a connected bank come from your bank by way of Plaid. They are only as current and as correct as what your bank publishes.
  • Data is fetched when you ask for it, not continuously. What you see may be hours or days old. A payment or a purchase made since the last refresh will not be reflected.
  • Some institutions do not report a credit limit, an interest rate, or a minimum payment at all. Where a limit is missing, the card is left out of the utilization figures instead of being counted as zero, and you are asked to fill the value in.
  • Values you type in yourself are used exactly as typed, including any mistake in them.
  • Statement close dates and next payment dates may be estimated from the last statement rather than known.

Check the figures against your bank or your card issuer before you rely on them. Where this service and your issuer disagree, your issuer is right.

Your payments stay your responsibility

You are responsible for paying your accounts, on time and in the correct amount. A suggestion from this service does not transfer that responsibility. Missed payments, late fees, interest charges, over-limit fees, and any effect on your credit remain yours, whatever this service displayed. Do not treat a plan on screen as confirmation that a payment was made, because this service never makes one.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter into this agreement.
  • Give a real email address you control. It is the only way to confirm your account and reset your password.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Turning on two-factor sign in is strongly recommended. It is available and it is not required.
  • Only connect bank accounts that belong to you and that you are entitled to access.
  • Tell the operator promptly if you believe somebody else has your account.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Enter or connect anyone else's financial accounts without their authority
  • Try to reach another user's data, or any part of the system you are not entitled to
  • Attack, overload, or probe the service, or work around rate limits, lockouts, or authentication
  • Scrape the service, or automate against it in a way that degrades it for anybody else
  • Use the service to break the law, or to launder or conceal funds
  • Upload anything malicious, or resell or rebrand the service as your own

Availability

The service is provided as it is, with no uptime guarantee. It runs on a single server and may be unavailable for maintenance, failure, or reasons outside anyone's control. Bank connections depend on Plaid and on your institution, both of which can be unavailable independently of this service. Features may change or be withdrawn.

Connecting a bank through Plaid is not open on a new account. Bank linking is granted by an administrator, because every bank call is billed. Everything else works without it: accounts entered by hand, CSV import, the planner, payoff, levels, spend, and upcoming expenses.

Your data

Your records are yours. Export your cards and accounts as CSV or JSON at any time, and delete your account whenever you want. What is stored, why, and how long it is kept is set out in the privacy policy, and the retention detail is in how long things are kept.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. You confirm with your password and by typing DELETE. Deletion is not gated behind confirming your email address, and it is immediate and permanent.

Your access may be suspended or removed if you break these terms, if your account is being used to harm the service or another person, or if the service is discontinued. Where it is reasonably possible to give notice and an opportunity to export your data first, that is what will happen. If the service is shut down entirely, reasonable advance notice will be given so you can export your records.

Limitation of liability

In plain language: this is a free tool built by one person, and it comes with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. It is not promised to be accurate, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service. That includes late fees, interest, penalties, over-limit charges, declined transactions, changes to your credit score or credit report, lost data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss, whether or not the possibility of it was known.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of liability. Where that applies to you, the exclusions above apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Indemnity

If your use of the service in breach of these terms causes a claim against the operator, you agree to cover the reasonable cost of dealing with it.

Third party services

Bank connections are provided by Plaid, under Plaid's own terms and privacy policy. Your relationship with your bank is governed by your agreement with your bank. This service is not responsible for the acts or omissions of Plaid, of your institution, or of any other third party.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The updated version appears on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. If you do not, delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from them is subject to the courts of the State of Utah.
